RECENT HAPPENINGS:
The GFRAA was proud to announce a showing of some of its Collection of rare WPA
paintings. The exhibition took place at the Association’s mansion at 80 Belmont
St.
The collection represents works by regional artists produced in the mid 1930’s
as part of the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, a federal
program to create work for artists during the Great Depression. Murals, canvases
and sculptures were made to decorate post offices, schools and other public buildings,
executed for little money but with great pride. Many of these works have been
destroyed or stolen over the years and GFRAA considers it an honor to be custodian
of part of this National treasure.

Help Wanted
GFRAA needs your help. We need volunteers who are willing to serve as officers
and chairs or to support various committees. We need ideas for fund raising to
support ongoing maintenance and expenses of our beautiful house. We need a volunteer
who is willing to investigate and write grants that may be available to the Association.
If you would like to volunteer or share an idea with us, please contact Jerry
LePage at Gerald.Lepage@bristolcc.edu or attend a meeting held the first Wednesday of the month. Next meeting is
February 4, at 80 Belmont Street at 6:30 p.m. We would love to have you attend.
We especially need you to renew your membership (see renewal form on page 3)
as your dues will enable us to continue in these difficult times.
